Day One: Continuation

(Sorry for the delay - Internet has not been easily accessible, so prepare for a wild ride of updates right about now)

Firstly we have pictures documenting various points in our trip. We’ve got shots at the gate in Sydney Airport –if you look closely and you’re wondering about the birthmark Lachlan seems to have acquired by his eye... no, that’s a football injury;

On the plane;

Hanging out for four hours in the New Zealand airport;

Okay so basically we arrived in LA and all was well. We were staying at the Castle Inn in Anaheim which is basically across the road from Disneyland. To be honest I’m not sure if anything of interest happened from the airport to the hotel... I fell asleep despite people telling me not to.

We got to the hotel, we were room 155 if anyone cares for minor details. I think we went for a walk to see what was where and find something to eat. We didn’t walk very far. There was a line of, like, five/six shops next door.

I’d discovered an email from my friend Allie to say that she was in town and if I got the message before a certain time to ring her, and so I did. Thus my friend Allie arrived after we’d had dinner which was awesome timing. So on my very first night in the states I hung with her. She decided to show me around because she knew the area real well.

Fast Fact: I’m not sure about others... but when Allie says she knows where she’s going and then starts looking around (almost religiously) to check she is where she thinks she is... might be a good idea to find a map.

Caption: This is Allie avoiding the camera but managing to provide me with a cute pic

We went a long way around to Downtown Disneyland when we could have walked up the road and turn left. We basically went around to the other side of the park. It was hilarious when we realised this mishap. And who cares? We had an epic time. Or, at least, I had an epic time and I assume she did because we were having some serious fun.

This is basically how the first day, Tuesday, went in the USA.

The next update will document Disneyland in one hit, or possibly two given the photos.

Day One: Part One

Right - well this is the beginning of the blog and of our trip. At the moment I'm typing up this blog in the airport in New Zealand. As you can imagine not much has happened thus far, aside from travelling to New Zealand. But hey, four hours between flights I figured I'd begin a draft of the first day (a period lasting longer than 24 hours but I figured it was easier to just call it a day).

Andrew's really excited, he's even wearing his new Dragons (rugby team) shirt signed by all the players which his Aunt got him for his birthday and he recieved last night. This shirt was highly praised in Sydney and then admired but disliked by people in NZ. But all good natured fun, Andrew - as always - gets on like a house on fire with everyone.

Dad bought us some books for our journey. Adds an extra one to my seven. But yay!

We had slight issues on the plane. Namely that I took the controller out, pulled it as far as (I assumed) the string would go and then couldn't get it back in again. Until I realised it was one of those things you pull a little and then let go and it gets sucked up. Pfft, you know what I mean. Getting everyone up and down to go to the toilet is always fun. Mum and I were on one side while Nan and the boys were on the other.

Mum: Peace, perfect peace.

Yeah, not so much. I jest. It was all good.

Did You Know: You can charge your iPod on the plane? There's a USB socket? Okay you probably all knew this. It's been a while since I travelled on a plane.

We had an issue getting off the plane too as Andrew wanted to get out and the doors hadn't opened yet so no one was moving. We couldn't seem to make him understand that we can't move if no one else does.

So here we are in the NZ airport, wasting time until it's time to leave. Andrew and I went and exchanged some of his money for $NZ and spent 6mins on the massage chairs. Which Lachlan now wants to go on, so time to go change some more money.

This blog is so we can keep everyone up to date with what's happening while we're on holiday. It shall involve photos, possibly videos, and random tidbits. It will be updated by me (Louise/Dallas) because I'm more internet savvy than the rest of the family, or at least the ones that would be bothered to tell you what is going on.

So, for right now... We're finishing getting ready to go to Sydney. Nan's cleaning up, something new off her. ;)

We'll be staying at my Aunt's tonight and then on the plane in the morning. Flying Air New Zealand - just in case people want to know these things. We stop over in NZ, just hope Andy doesn't think that we've arrived in the US.
