Day One: Part One

Right - well this is the beginning of the blog and of our trip. At the moment I'm typing up this blog in the airport in New Zealand. As you can imagine not much has happened thus far, aside from travelling to New Zealand. But hey, four hours between flights I figured I'd begin a draft of the first day (a period lasting longer than 24 hours but I figured it was easier to just call it a day).

Andrew's really excited, he's even wearing his new Dragons (rugby team) shirt signed by all the players which his Aunt got him for his birthday and he recieved last night. This shirt was highly praised in Sydney and then admired but disliked by people in NZ. But all good natured fun, Andrew - as always - gets on like a house on fire with everyone.

Dad bought us some books for our journey. Adds an extra one to my seven. But yay!

We had slight issues on the plane. Namely that I took the controller out, pulled it as far as (I assumed) the string would go and then couldn't get it back in again. Until I realised it was one of those things you pull a little and then let go and it gets sucked up. Pfft, you know what I mean. Getting everyone up and down to go to the toilet is always fun. Mum and I were on one side while Nan and the boys were on the other.

Mum: Peace, perfect peace.

Yeah, not so much. I jest. It was all good.

Did You Know: You can charge your iPod on the plane? There's a USB socket? Okay you probably all knew this. It's been a while since I travelled on a plane.

We had an issue getting off the plane too as Andrew wanted to get out and the doors hadn't opened yet so no one was moving. We couldn't seem to make him understand that we can't move if no one else does.

So here we are in the NZ airport, wasting time until it's time to leave. Andrew and I went and exchanged some of his money for $NZ and spent 6mins on the massage chairs. Which Lachlan now wants to go on, so time to go change some more money.
